GOLF LOOKS TO MAKE SOME NOISE

Andy Tuttle and the Sapulpa golf team have plenty to be excited about this season with several starters returning for both the boys and girls teams. Head coach Andy Tuttle may have found a winning formula for his Sapulpa golfers to follow. That formula centers on hard work and staying focused. Sapulpa Boys Golf The boy’s team returns two players that are both competing for that No.1 bag spot. And both guys shoot in the upper 70’s to low 80’s. Coach Tuttle said the pair really push each other in practice and that competition can only create two battle tested golfers. Daniel Reed and Clay Venable are a pair of juniors that can carry this team. Last season Venable placed 3rd at regionals making him a two-time state qualifier and a two-time 2nd team All-Conference selectee. Reed is a state qualifier as well and made the 2nd team All-Conference with Venable last year. “We’re returning four of the five members from the state qualifying team last season. We are looking forward to an outstanding season,” said coach Tuttle. Senior Brennan Morgan figures into this equation for coach Tuttle and will probably play the No.3 bag. Morgan is a crucial component to the overall success of the team this year. Also figuring into the mix is Evan Linfoot (So.), Jake Yeager (Sr.) and Mason McCormick (Jr.). Recently at the Sand Springs Invitational the Sapulpa boys took 1st place as a team and bags 2-5 won their rounds. For the Sapulpa girl’s team the path to success has had it’s ups and downs, but they are improving with every tournament and continue to work hard. Coach Tuttle said every golfer from last year’s team has returned this year and that experience will certainly help. MaKenzie Hughes (Jr.) is someone to keep an eye on this season. Her scores have been falling and recently at the Sand Springs Invitational she placed 4th individually. Jami Big Soldier (Sr.), who is listed as the No. 2 bag, also placed at that same tournament. Big Soldier placed 2nd helping the team to an overall 2nd place finish. Sapulpa Girls Golf Abby Boren (Jr.), Kari Walker (Jr.) and Madison Stabler (Jr.) will all be factors for the Lady Chieftains this year.
